Met outside some little landlocked town. Knew it then but I don't know it now. And I'm waiting, forgiveness. Just a blip, a little pass-through town. Couldn't help but to save it now, praying to our better angels. What if they took the best of our years, bottled em up and saved em for some future ideal self? And we've gone too far. And was it (up to) me baby to justify what the tide may bring? I’ll see you next spring. Like darkness on the edge of town playing. Knew it then I didn't know it now, and I knew what was coming. What if they took the best of our years, bottled 'em up and saved em for some future ideal self? And we've gone too far. Was it for me, baby, to justify? What the tide may bring What the tide may bring What the tide may bring What the tide may bring I'll see you next Spring

Wrote a list of all your fears, and here’s another Lost the wife and the house and the kids, and here’s another Staring down takes years, you couldn’t stop then Bet your life, so insincere, and here’s another Each time you recognize your, each time you recognize Come on now stop wasting time, doesn’t mean your hanging on a lie Less you leave the less they’ll steal, you couldn’t count on them Didn’t text when you get near, and here’s another Each time you recognize your faults, each time you recognize Come on now stop wasting time, doesn’t mean your hanging on a lie Wrote a list of all your fears, and here’s another Lost the wife and the house and the kids, and here’s another Caught in your past and mistakes you made, everything’s changing but I haven’t changed. Each time you recognize your faults, everything’s changing but I haven’t changed... Come on now stop wasting time, doesn’t mean your hanging on a lie

Starts with you again, don’t know where it ends Learn to love again, and I’m wondering where it ends Walk with you again, don’t know where it ends Learn to love again, I won’t hit that dead end The way we were, the way we were Drop your defenses that stretch like snowfences That stretch like snowfences that cover new ground Starts with you again, don’t know where it ends Walk with you again, I’ve learned enough to guess The way we were, the way we were Drop your defenses that stretch like snowfences That stretch like snowfences that cover new ground Drop your defenses that stretch like snowfences That stretch like snowfences that cover new ground that cover new ground, that cover somehow, What if somehow… Starts with you again, don’t know where it ends Learn to love again, and I’m wondering where it ends

I hope the West Coast can save your East Coast soul I hope somebody just loves a little bit more I get that refrain from out along the coast I hope somebody don’t know your history And each time we go farther It makes you feel honest, witness Would they offer? I know you’re waiting, been on that stretch before I hope somebody knows that feeling like you do I get your reasons for running from that cold I get that reeling, that grip can be so cruel And each time we go farther It makes you feel brighter, witness Would they offer some kind of airtight alibi? And it goes higher, farther than you know And each time we go farther It makes you feel honest, always be there for you

about

20+ years later, on Easter Sunday 2020 someone texted the question: “Could we try to write a song?” Over the next two years, MOS used Garageband and zoom/googlemeet to collaborate and whittle down more than 20 songs to this four song collection of demos “Ghosts I Knew” that serves as the answer.
